I am a Psychology Professor at a local university and a mother who has raised 3 children in the Coconut Grove area. I know much about the local history and, having graduated from both the University of Miami and Florida International University, I know the higher education system well in the Miami area. At my current university, I have students from many countries and am excited and appreciative toward my role of guiding them in their physical, mental, and emotional journey in Miami.
I also worked for 10 years in diverse mental health settings as a therapist and have been involved in research and intervention programs targeted to the teen and young adult population in Miami. In addition to providing information to tourists and relocated families, I also have the professional skills, background, and knowledge to assist those with mental health needs or linkage to community job and financial assistance agencies.
I am committed to providing my support and knowledge to anyone who can benefit! I moved to Miami from the Northeastern U.S and can help visitors and relocators from that area to more easily integrate within the Miami lifestyle. Miami is a unique city which I will not and could not ever leave! I hope to help others thoroughly enjoy their experiences here. I am a Miami Hurricanes fan and know much about their sporting events. Finally, I spent many of my younger years here and know all of the Miami area very well. I can help anyone navigate anywhere here. Enjoy!
Coconut Grove has a friendly, bohemian vibe with quaint streets and restaurants. Locals are very proud to be "Grove-ites" and to help tourists enjoy their stay or visit in our historic village.
I have raised 3 children in the Grove and have entertained friends and family members during the past 25 years here. I love sharing my knowledge of directions, tourist attractions, and local history. With all of the other tourist sites, such as South Beach, Brickell, and Wynwood, I am passionate about attracting more tourists to the Grove. The Grove is one of the oldest tourist spots in Miami with many historic landmarks, such as the Barnacle, the Kampong, Dinner Key Marina, Kennedy Park, and Vizcaya. I know every street and shortcut in this area and would love to guide tourists to the best places with the most efficient directions. We are also close to beautiful Key Biscayne, and I am knowledgeable about where to go and how to best navigate around that neighboring village. For families who have recently moved to the Grove, I can provide contact information about all public and private schools, religious and spiritual centers, recreational activities, summer camps, after-school programs, and annual festivals. I can also provide information about how best to use the metrorail, Uber, Lyft, and the Coconut Grove trolley when traveling around the Grove, as well as to and from the Grove. I have lived in the Grove since 1989 and graduated from the University of Miami. I hope to be helpful
