Philadelphia is home. Manila is second closest.
The people and the little known secrets makes both of these cities diamonds in the "ruff" in a sense.
I personally believe that Philadelphia tends to be forgotten by travelers because of the shadow cast by the great New York City. However the city at the forefront of American independence offers its own unique and highly diverse identity, culture and charm; that is a must see for anyone new to the Mid-North East region of America. However, Philadelphia is very much a city of neighborhoods, sub-cultures and niche movements; so figuring out exactly what is happening may prove difficult if you're not "in" the loop.
Luckily, I'm well connected across a variety of communities; particularly in the arts and nightlife scene. Let me point you in the right direction so you can get the most out of your visit to the City of Brotherly Love.
From mid- 2015 through mid-2017, I resided in Manila spending time as an events producer, dj, radio host and freelance marketing consultant. Similar to Philadelphia, Manila is often overlooked by travelers as they tend to focus on the beach destinations of Boracay and Palawan. Yes, those beaches are AMAZING (Palawan for chilling, Boracay for partying) but if you find yourself stuck in Manila for a few nights, there's some pretty awesome things brewing out there to keep you busy, safe and priced fairly! I can even put you in touch with some awesome locals who will gladly meet you for beers!
