I am a retired professional who retired to Portland over seven years ago. I'm from the cold/snowy Midwest, and got tired of the long winters. Portland has a great climate! It rarely gets below freezing in winter, and usually never above the eighties in summer. It does however, have it's share of rain in winter/early spring.
Portland is a very friendly city. I found residents very helpful in getting to know the city. I have gotten involved in all sorts of activities since coming here, and now know the city very well. I hope you will let me share my knowledge with you, and perhaps even show you around!
I retired to Portland around 7 years ago, and have never regretted it!
It's a beautiful city with lots of 'green spaces' as well as a green environmental profile. As a visitor there is great public transportion via light rail, street car and buses.
I have volunteered at the Travel Portland Center weekly for several years. It has information on over 200 local activities from lodging, restaurants, social/cultural activities, etc. at my disposal. I'm sure I can find whatever you're looking for quickly, as well as give you my own personal experience in living in this great city.
