My favorite things about my cities

There's so much to see and do in the coolest little capital, so to get you started, here’s our list of the top 10 must dos when you visit Wellington.

Te Papa - the National Museum of New Zealand (it's well worth leaving a gold coin donation by the way as you can spend all day there!)
Walk round the Botanic Gardens.
Go to the Weta Cave in Miramar - this is where the costumes and props are created for films such as Lord of the Rings and King Kong!
Chill out like a hipster at Frank Kitt's park.
Go round the bays and have a picnic at Scorching Bay.
Visit the Marine Education Centre at Island Bay and see lots of sea creatures.
Jump off a wharf into the sea. Particularly if it's mid-winter. Or just swim in the ocean.
Drive through the Victoria Tunnel and beep your horn. (Full of especially exuberant drivers)
Walk up to Mount Victoria for a wonderful view of the city.
Go to Old St Paul's Cathedral in Thorndon.
Walk out to Red Rocks and see the seals.
Go for a stroll around the scenic Island Bay.
Go outside on a clear night and look at the stars.
Drive or walk up to the Brooklyn wind turbine.
Walk into the embassy theatre and discover where the LOTR trilogy premiered.

Walk along the waterfront and see if you can spot all the poetry blocks set along the shore.
Tuesday nights go to Frank Kitts Park and check out the fire dancers’ fire spinning.
Listen to a busker on Courtney.
Look around the Petone shops.
