Find out below how LinkedIn is helping individuals.

LinkedIn said “We are excited to launch a global skills initiative aimed at bringing more digital skills to 25 million people worldwide by the end of this year”.

The pandemic has badly affected millions of people – It has claimed thousands of lives, shut down businesses and many workers across the globe had lost their jobs. It may be the worst thing that has ever happened this year but for some individuals who looked at it from a different perspective, they were able to find beauty in it, it changes their lives for the better.

People are now adapting to the new normal- Connecting to the virtual world to drive their business, conducting conferences using communication platforms online and working remotely and some have even had the chance to do what they are passionate about like cooking, baking, carpentry etc. However, on the other hand, finding a new job nowadays has become more challenging because of the competitive job market. It is literally a competition, just like a singing contest. It means you can be the best and still not win.

The most common reason as to why people are unable to get a job nowadays is skill mismatch.  So the question is, what is the solution? It is to find and discover new skills. Wouldn’t you agree?

Learning new skills increases adaptability and it keeps us relevant. It is one of the best solutions for job seekers to get new job opportunities and increase their chances of getting hired. Nowadays, one of the most in-demand skills is digital marketing. There is a growing demand for this skill because businesses and sales are now being driven virtually.

Recently, LinkedIn has launched a global skills initiative so people across the globe can improve their digital skills with free course material.

Job seekers can visit opportunity.linkedin.com to see current job opportunities and free courses. They will be given a certificate of completion after completing each course which they can post on their profile or add to their portfolio to let clients know about their newly obtained skills.

Once individuals have worked to improve their appeal with new skills the next step is to aggressively pursue job opportunities that fit. Some job seekers have turned to automation. One tool that has been used successfully by job seekers is Biglinker.com. These candidates have automated targeted potential opportunities by using specific job titles and linking their resume to their post connection messages. Putting them directly in front of the decision makers.

By adding to their skill set and aggressively pursuing opportunities job seekers are tipping the scales in their favor.
